The short answer: Mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) measures how densely packed hemoglobin is inside your red blood cells, and the normal adult range is about 32-36 grams per deciliter. A low MCHC suggests pale, hemoglobin-poor cells typical of iron deficiency, while a high MCHC can point to a cell-shape condition like hereditary spherocytosis or be a lab artifact from very high white cell counts. It's read together with MCV and MCH.

What MCHC tells you

Common reasons it rises
