The short answer: A normal total T3 level generally falls between about 80 and 200 ng/dL. Unlike free T3, total T3 measures both the bound and unbound hormone in the blood, so it can shift when protein levels change — for example during pregnancy or with certain medicines — even if the amount of active hormone hasn't actually changed.
