The short answer: A normal white blood cell (WBC) count for adults falls between 4.0 and 11.0 ×10³ cells per microliter of blood. This count reflects how many infection-fighting cells are circulating at the moment your blood was drawn, so a single high or low reading is a snapshot, not a diagnosis.
